Environmental Award 1987

On the occasion of The European Environmental Year in 1987 Folkecenter received an award in the category “Export of appropriate Environmental Technology”. The intention with this award is to encourage European export of environmental technology adapted to developing countries. Folkecenter was awarded for its efforts of developing and demonstrating technologies of relevance for improvement of energy supply in unserved rural regions in developing countries.

 

 

 

The OVE-AWARD 1978

The Danish Organisation for Renewable Energy (OVE) in 1978 awarded Preben Maegaard, director, Folkecenter, for his efforts in developing and dissemination of renewable energy – not least in local communities, but also as an inspiration to the rest of the country. The award was handed over at a ceremony in the square of Skive in Jutland.

 

 

 

The Danish Wind Mill Award 1992

This year’s award from the Danish Wind Mill Owners' Association went to Preben Maegaard, director, Folkecenter, for many years’ efforts in technological development, organizational and implementation initiatives, and for his contribution to broad public acceptance of wind energy in Denmark and abroad.

 

 

     

 

European Solar Prize 1998

In 1998 EUROSOLAR awarded The European Solar Prize to Folkecenter for outstanding efforts within renewable energy. Especially mentioned was information, education and project initiatives to introduce renewable energy in Eastern Europe.

 

 

 

The Gaia Award Denmark 2002

Folkecenter, represented by Preben Maegaard, director, receives from Gaia Trust the newly initiated award of 25.000 DKR to a Danish individual, who has made an outstanding contribution to the creation of a more sustainable, more equitable and more spiritual society.

 

 

    

 

The Merkur Pioneer Award 2002

Folkecenter receives a 10.000 DKR pioneer award from Merkur Bank, Denmark. The prize is awarded for extensive and innovative efforts beneficial to society, and goes to Folkecenter for its many years’ of developing and dissemination of renewable energy in Denmark and abroad, not least the developing countries, and for the process of transition from fossil fuels to the renewable energies.
