The flag has been raised at Folkecenter
With new funding, Folkecenter is able to continue its 20 years of progress in the areas of energy saving, renewable energy and integrated energy solutions as a way to reach a future sustainable society. The funding comes from ELFOR’s new Energy Saving Fund (ELFOR, Danish Power Distribution, is the branch organisation for the Danish power distribution companies). This will provide Folkecenter with 4.5 million Danish Kroner in 2005, and 2.5 million annually from 2006 to 2008.
The funding will strengthen efforts for energy saving and alternative solutions for energy use in households and the private and public sectors. With this new funding, a basis has been created for new initiatives to support centres which can provide multi-sectoral awareness raising and education. In practice, this will mean many more courses and visits from study groups. Folkecenter is the only place in Denmark which has practical demonstrations of all the different renewable energy systems. The new funding means improved possibilities for many more people to come and visit, to see, hear and experience how we can solve the challenges of society’s energy supply without dependence on fossil fuels.
