Electric fence

The use of the solar electricity to operate electric fences is obvious. Usually the electric fence systems operate from grid supply or lead-acid batteries. Charging of these batteries can be made by small PV modules. Near to the Folkecenter we use a small monocrystalline PV module with the output of 31W. The electric system delivers 42-48 pulses in a minute. On the 100 % output level the 75 Ah battery can work for 150 hours without charging. If the battery charge is low the pulse rate will fall, thus relatively frequent maintenance is required. If the system is provided with a PV or a small windturbine it can operate with very little maintenance.

Technical details

The PV module is a monocrystalline made by the Gallagher company. It produces 12V and 31W. The output of the electric box on the 100% level is 4.5 J for one impulse, on 70% is 3.1 J and on 45% is 2 J. The lead-acid battery supply 12 V and it has 75 Ah capacity
